"Yaquina Bay Bridge at Sunset", Mixed Media Print,11" x 14" $95Newport, Oregon is art galleries, sea lions, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge.  The Pacific Ocean's sunsets rival any I've seen, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge in silhouette was a great inspiration. The bridge crosses Yaquina Bay estuary, and has framed many an Oregon coast sunset since its opening in 1936, during the Great Depression. Designer Conde McCullough used Art Deco and Art Moderne design motifs as well as forms borrowed from Gothic architecture. The Gothic influence is seen in the balustrade, which features small pointed arches, and in the arches of the side span piers.Newport, Oregon is art galleries, sea lions, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Early one winter morning, I watched the moon set over the Pacific as the sun rose behind me.

Later I learned this is called Hawk Moon, and it only happens in January or February.
